The Marshall Project is a nonpartisan, nonprofit news organization that seeks to create and sustain a sense of national urgency about the U.S. criminal justice system. Our journalism has an impact on the system, rendering it more fair, effective, transparent and humane.

The Marshall Project - Jackson aims to expose abuses in the local criminal justice system and some instances around the state through investigative, data and community engagement journalism. Launched in October 2023, Jackson is The Marshall Project’s second local network operation, and plans to start publishing in early 2024.
