Chris Vazquez is an audience engagement producer for The Marshall Project, where he is responsible for reaching new audiences as well as engaging the newsroom’s followers on social media such as Instagram, TikTok and Reddit. A native of Miami, Florida, Vazquez graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism, and joined The Marshall Project from The Washington Post, where he was an associate TikTok producer. On the Post's TikTok account, Vazquez built up a following through his humor, sharp news judgment and focus on accessibility while breaking down hard news, creating the Variant Cover series on comics and identity and coordinating TikTok Lives with reporters. Prior, Vazquez focused on horizontal video producing and held roles with The New York Times Student Journalism Institute, Retro Report and The Texas Tribune.
