Ashley Dye is The Marshall Project’s Audience Director. They lead an Audience team focused on serving readers where they are — most importantly, those affected by the criminal justice system. Prior, Dye was The Marshall Project's Audience Engagement Manager and increased the newsroom's Instagram and Reddit presence in particular. Dye started in local news, where they were the Tampa Bay Times’ Engagement Editor and crafted engagement for two Pulitzer Prize investigations, “Targeted” and “Poisoned.” As a copy editor, they founded the Times’ “tbt* Coast Is Queer” section. Dye's work has been honored by the Society for News Design and NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists. They are a reluctant Hoosier, Ball State graduate and resident of St. Pete, Florida.
