This article mistakenly reports both the number of murders in Canada and their clearance rate ("In Canada, by contrast, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police report that about 90 percent of the 600 to 700 murders committed each year are cleared through arrest").
In 2013, there were 505 homicides in Canada, down from 543 in 2012.
The clearance rate for murders has been dropping since the 1960s, when it was over 90%; for the past decade or so, it was been between 70 and 80% (75% in 2010, the last reported year)
