Twenty-five years ago, a Los Angeles man standing on his apartment balcony shot a video that would upend the city, and the nation, for years to come. The footage, shot on a Sony Handycam, captured the beating of Rodney King, a black laborer between jobs who had been pulled over by police. The video undoubtedly helped fuel the anger behind the 1992 Los Angeles riots — one of the worst moments of racial unrest in American history.
